Keeping up self-awareness

I’m exhausted.
My arms and back ache.
My shoulders knotted.
I simply want to close my eyes.
Yet I’ve barely moved all day.
------
Focused attention.
Being present in the moment.
Having prepared beforehand to remind myself, draw out of my mind the context, facts, knowledge I may need.
Listening carefully.
Considering what it is I need to get from this.
Noting enough to return to later.
Then
Bam!
The next one.
Completely different.
Taking focused attention.
Being present in the moment.
Having prepared beforehand to remind myself, draw out of my mind the context, facts, knowledge I may need.
Listening carefully.
Considering what it is I need to get from this.
Noting enough to return to later.
And again.
And again.
And again.
-------
And it spills out of work…
Into things that I need/should/want to do at home.
-------
And I know there’s good advice.
Slow things down.
Take time to relax.
Don’t schedule so much in.
Look after yourself.
It’s just never that straight forward or easy.
Sure, if only…
Advice is dismissed with frustration.
-------
So wellbeing ‘would likes’ are replaced with wellbeing ‘workables’
What’s workable and realistic to fit in today.
And sometimes it’s simply 5 mins savouring a brew taking slow deep breaths…
…before the next deep dive.
Whatever the wellbeing workable is, I’ve found it’s the intention that matters.
Creating that little bit of the space to give attention to whatever moment I can.
It takes time and it takes energy too.
Yet it pays back so much more by the end of the day.
Exhausted, yes. But better able to let go and step back, and recuperate.
-------
So how about you?
What’s a wellbeing workable that you can fit into your day today?
And how will you make sure you appreciate it?
