What is Coaching?

Coaching is a private confidential space, tailored to help you evolve your leadership style and approach.


We often have the answers to the challenges we are facing, yet something gets in the way.


I will help you identify what is stopping you and by both supporting and challenging you, help you find ways to implement solutions.


We will do this over a programme of coaching sessions, each time reflecting on the challenge, assessing possible options and then subsequently reviewing what worked and what didn't.


By testing out different solutions, stepping back and examining situations and results from different perspectives, I will help you find ways to evolve your leadership capacity and capability and deepen your confidence.

At the heart of my coaching, I seek to create space for my coachees to explore what is on their mind, make connections in their unsaid thoughts that helps them discover clarity through their reflections, and gain what they are looking for through coaching. Underpinning my approach is my belief that my coachees are resourceful and will find ways forward that work for them.


I look to coach the whole person as they show up in that moment we are working together. I take this approach because I believe that supporting a someone to work through what’s foremost on their mind will indirectly yet essentially help them work towards their overall coaching objectives. My experience has helped to reinforce my view that working with someone on the things that are present right at that moment, provides valuable insight and clarity and can then help them make progress towards their overall coaching objectives.


In coaching in this way, my intention is to help people be their whole selves in their work and as a leader, creating a positive workplace culture and role-modelling positive leadership that has benefits for themselves, the people they work with and their organisation.

Challenge and Support

I provide both support, helping you reflect on your stengths, and challenge, raising the conflicting ideals and paradoxes you unconsciously hold. 

Trust and Openness

I build relationships through trust, warmth and openness. I will demonstrate my trust in you, providing a non-judgemental space and holidng you with positive regard.

Insight and Perspective

I listen attentively, asking you questions with a calm and open manner, helping you get a fresh perspective and insight on the challenges you face and what you might do.

How I Coach

I use a wide range of frameworks and techniques to adapt and tailor my approach for each person I work with. Underpinning my coaching are some key principles:

  • I take a holistic, person-centred approach
  • I will help you understand yourself better and help you become more self-aware
  • I will support you in developing and enhancing your professional relationships
  • I will bring both a restorative focus and an action orientation to our coaching work
  • And I will pull in a system wide view to ensure greater context is present in the solutions and ways forward you choose

Working with each person is unique. Everyone has their own personal experience and recognising this is key to how I coach.
